Don't sleep on the vegan general tso's. Garlic Broccoli, lo mein, and mixed vegetables were also excellent. Great service.

Have been wanting to try this place for a few months now. Finally made it tonight for dinner, there are a few seating options so won't be good for large groups. Primarily more for take out. Inside is super clean and has some modern furniture, all the plates and bowls are unique. Staring with the food Appetizers Edamame Deep fried vegetable dumplings Soups Hot and Sour soup Egg drop soup Main course Vegan Kung po Chicken with steamed tofu Orange chicken Hunan Chicken combo Dragon and Phoenix Every item is prepared so well, and come out super quick, everything is super tasty, with the right amount of sauces and vegetables. I personally am impressed with white sauce how it tasted as part of the Dragon and Phoenix which is a combination of steamed jumbo shrimp with thinly sliced carrots and bok Choy, slightly sautéed in the white sauce and zesty orange chicken with thin orange slices. Must try this one. Hunan chicken is another favorite dish with chicken sautéed with red chillies that gives it the right amount of spice, comes with a pork fried rice and pork egg roles, which you can replace for a vegetable fried rice and spring rolls. The soups are super delicious too. The vegan kung po chicken was just ok, The staff are super friendly, you will need to order at the counter and food comes to your tables, utensils and sauce are set to the side for you to get. To close out you get a chocolate dipped fortune cookies, the staff have a large bag of these fortune cookies when we asked for more, that's an impressive gesture that shows their dedication to customer experience. Highly recommend this amazing place for some delicious Chinese fast food. Will keep going back there to try their other dishes.

Once in a while, I used to eat in the small dine in area for workday lunches at the old Black Bamboo location, but I think most people thought of Black Bamboo as a takeout Chinese spot. They recently opened a new location on Farmington Ave in West Hartford, but this spot is east of the old location. The new digs are nice inside. The dining room is not huge, but it's roomier than the old dining room. You still order at the counter even if you're dining in. Over the years, most of my food orders probably fall within the 4.25 Star to 4.5 Star range for a takeout type Chinese restaurant. Occasionally, they'll dip a bit lower or soar a bit higher. My General Tso's Chicken Combo meal with broccoli, pork fried rice and a fried shrimp egg roll was trending towards 4.5 Stars, but fell a bit short so I'm going to round down to 4 Stars since I can't give half Star ratings. The chicken was good quality and well cooked. The sauce was a bit sweet and sour-leaning on the General Tso's Spectrum. The shrimp egg roll was very good. It had two medium size shrimp rather than a bunch of mini shrimp. Pro Tip - I like the pork egg roll at a lot of places, but Shrimp is definitely the way to go at Black Bamboo. The pork fried rice was tan, which I mention because I always prefer places with the tan rice to places with the yellow rice. I've ordered a range of things at Black Bamboo over the years. Their sauces are not always like the sauces at other places. And what I really like about Black Bamboo is each Black Bamboo sauce tastes different than its other sauces. At other takeout places, a few different named sauces are just vaguely brown, sweet and spicy. Black Bamboo is one of the better takeout Chinese options in Hartford County. 4.4 Stars

Has it been a while since you have visited Black Bamboo? I guess it has for me! I used GPS to navigate through West Hartford and arrived at Black Bamboo, honestly I wasn't sure I was at the right place, it looks amazing from the outside and freshly finished on the interior. I noticed one thing, the food is just as great as I remember. I ordered the vegan barbecue spareribs and they did not disappoint! It's a little pricey at $13 but the portion size was just a little larger than Lucky Stars Restaurant few blocks over that offers a similar dish at $12. For the numerous vegan friendly items on the menu and the variety of beverages, sides, and atmosphere if you choose to dine in, Black Bamboo is worth the price.

The food is delicious, no doubt about it. Their dumplings are perfect. I have not really had the rest of the food because the dumplings exist but...holy heck is it expensive. Almost 20 bucks for an order of 6 dumplings is INSANE. I havent been back because last time i tried to order the prices were jacked again. Its good but its not 20 dollar dumplings good.

Never noticed this restaurant before but this but noticed the place Thursday because of its new clean updated look. Made a mental note to get there so I went there Friday! Boy am I glad I did, the food was not only delicious it was ample and reasonably priced. My son had full plate of sweet and sour chicken with pork fried rice. My pepper steak was delicious and very filling! Parking is a challenge but thr staff is warm. More of a takeout place but the seating is comfortable. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant.

One of my favorite stops for two hankerings: "I don't feel like cooking tonight" and "great fresh cooked Asian would break my hangared mood". Black Bamboo has been a steadfast oasis of re-nourishment. Fast, friendly, accommodating, very popular, and for me close to home. Just order on-line, call, or stop by. The wait is painless. Having experienced many of their dishes the beef and broccoli on brown rice is my FAV FLAV!!!

The service at Black Bamboo is top notch, it's quick and the staff is generally friendly. The space is small so I typically will just get my food to go but there are a few chairs and tables available. The parking lot is small and street parking is limited. The food is not overly greasy and the veggies are fresh.
